Bobby Lou HargisARTIST'S BIO
Bobby Lou started a new unique style of painting using Gregg Shorthand symbols. She began experimenting with this technique in June of 1972, and found she liked the results. She initially tried this style so she would not forget the Gregg Shorthand she learned in Business College. Bobby was also motivated to get away from strict realism in her art, and to be able to abstract things her subjects better.
She found this style worked perfectly for her goals, and has been developing it and its variations since then. From her copyrighting research, Bobby found that she was the first artist to use Gregg Shorthand symbols in abstracting shapes. It also allows her to incorporate words into her paintings.

Bobby was born in Ohio, and has always been interested in art. She won the first scholarship at Grossmont High School in 1948, in El Cajon. She found that she had only a little spare time to paint and draw while raising three sons. She then returned to her art studies, and graduated with the Associate in Art Degree in 1985. Bobby opened her art gallery in La Puente in September of 1984 and used this commercial space as her gallery and studio for 14 years.
