Free Summer Youth /Adults Classes/Workshops Program
PVAA’s free summer art classes provide children and adults with opportunities for hands-on experience with different art supplies and techniques for creating artwork. The classes are created as a “thank you” for the support that has been given to PVAA in our efforts to bring art to the community.

Card Board Workshop
In this cardboard workshop, kids will explore using recycled materials such as cardboard to create a work of art by conceptualizing a cityscape. The project includes glueing down pieces, deciding on color, and painting with mixed media techniques. It will be held on Saturday, June 8th from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Gallery SOHO at 317 W. 1st Street in Claremont. There is a limit of 10 students so register early. Neurographic Art Workshop
Neurographic is a way of drawing that recreates the outer from the inner. Neurotrophic art is a mediative and intuitive artistic process that links the unconscious and the mind using brain cells called neurons. Beginning Weaving
Beginning Weaving for Kids will introduce basic techniques of weaving in an easy to learn format for students 6-12 years old. Beginning Sketching & drawing
This class will include art terminology and examples of perspective and various styles and techniques. A handout will be provided. A still life arrangement will be set up and pencils, rulers and sketch paper will be available. Basics of Expressive Arts: Creative Journaling
This lesson will provide an opportunity for adults to explore a two-handed method of journaling. The process is a great way to reduce stress, strengthen one's intuition and find ways toward better relationships. This expressive arts method is a fascinating form of art therapy. Beginning Alcohol Ink
Beginning alcohol Ink painting is an introduction to painting with alcohol Ink. We will explore the fluidity and vibrancy of the medium. Beginning Watercolor Landscapes
Participants will be learning basic techniques in watercolor, flat wash, graded wash, dry brush, spatter, straw tree, and wet into wet. Participants will have the opportunity to complete two landscapes using the watercolor techniques learned in class. Class will be conducted off site at The Cornerstone Baptist Church 9181 Sheepcreek Rd, Phelan, CA. 92371 on Saturday August 10th, from 10am-12pm. There is a limit of 10 students so register early. Kitty Collage
Art students will make collage from torn up magazines. They will draw and color the eyes, nose and mouth. The students will glue the torn pages and attach to mat board. Perspective 3-D Drawing
Students will learn basic concepts of how to draw 3-D shapes. Pencils and rulers are used to draw length, width, and depth to create the 3-D optical illusions of distance and space on a flat surface. Drawing Basic Shapes
Drawing with basic shapes explores drawing objects by starting out using the basic shapes of the sphere, box, cone and cylinder. Using line to draw the shapes, perspective will be incorporated to create a finished composition.
